A wiser painter would undoubtedly told himself that waterlilies would perhaps be a subject best avoided, being as they are synonymous with the great impressionist painter Monet. I was intrigued to find what it was that fascinated Monet whilst always being careful to stay on the side of inspiration as opposed to imitation. As with the canals of Venice or even the surface of a silver jug, it is the reflections that hold my fascination but with the added potential of creating an almost abstract design.
