Venice

Like many generations of painters before me I have a fascination for Venice as a subject. Unsurprisingly the lack of intrusion by the modern world has given Venice a timeless quality which is something I strive to achieve even in subjects where the detritus of the 21st century is more evident. I have painted the more obvious subjects including the Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco but more often find the quieter areas in Dorsoduro and Cannaregio attract me as a subject.
